Eric Gies is a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor at the Bank of America Private Bank in Greenwich, Connecticut. Eric has more than 26 years of wealth management experience in both managing client relationships and leading national wealth management businesses.
At the Bank of America Private Bank, Eric utilizes the vast resources and customized solutions available to help meet clients' wealth structuring, investment management, banking and credit needs. Eric leads a team of wealth management professionals dedicated to serving clients by offering them a range of financial solutions, including investment management, financial and succession planning, philanthropic and specialty asset management, family office services, custom credit solutions, financial administration and family trust stewardship.
Prior to joining Bank of America in 2021, Eric was a partner at Mirador, LLC and the Chief Executive Officer of Praxia Financial Services, LLC - a Registered Investment Adviser and affiliate of Mirador. Eric was the Senior Managing Director of Capital Markets for the private real estate firm Waypoint Residential. He was responsible for leading the national high-net-worth capital markets team. Eric was the Northeast Region Head for Bessemer Trust and served as a member of the firm’s Executive Management Committee. His region was responsible for oversight of approximately $85B in assets under supervision and 300 client facing professionals. Prior to that, Eric was the National Head of Wealth Management for Neuberger Berman. At the time Neuberger Berman Wealth Management was responsible for over $16B of private client assets. Mr. Gies also held several leadership roles at Bernstein Global Wealth Management as a financial advisor and managing director in the San Francisco, Seattle, Washington D.C., and Tampa markets.
Eric began his career as a Naval Flight Officer flying F-14A Tomcats. Accumulating over 1,000 hours of flight time while on active duty, Eric served during both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch. Among numerous other personal and unit citations, Eric was awarded two Navy Achievement Medals, a Navy Commendation Medal, and an Air Medal for combat missions completed during Operation Southern Watch while deployed aboard USS Nimitz (CVN-68).
Eric holds an M.B.A. from Jacksonville University and a B.S. with honors in engineering from the University of Florida, where he was commissioned a U.S. Naval Officer as the Honor Graduate of his NROTC class.
Eric is a member of the Board of Directors of Part of the Solution (POTS) a leading provider of emergency food, legal representation, and social services and previously served as Chairman of the Board of Volunteers of America Greater NY and Board member of the Resurrection School Foundation. He resides in Rye, New York with his wife of 32 years, KC, and their four children Sarah, Katie, Stephen and Tommy.
